This shawl all began when my daughter, Miss. A, and I made a trip to Ontario, Canada with my brother and his family. I will spare you the ONE song that played over and over and over in the car (with Miss A and her cousin signing (read screaming) off-key …) and go right to the interesting part where we crossed the border to the USA. I then begged to go to Hobby Lobby (a chain store that looks like a bit like Michael’s but that do not operate in Canada). Of course we went and of course I bought a couple of balls of beautiful yarn hehehehe !
Ce châle a tout commencé lorsque ma fille, Miss A, et moi avons fait un voyage en Ontario, au Canada, avec mon frère et sa famille. Je vous épargnerai la SEULE chanson qui a jouée en boucle dans la voiture (avec Miss A et son cousin en train de chanter (lire crier ici) complètement faux) et j’irai directement à la partie intéressante où nous avons traversé la frontière des États-Unis. J’ai ensuite supplier de faire un arrêt chez Hobby Lobby (une chaîne de magasins qui ressemble un peu à Michael mais qui n’est pas établie au Canada). Bien sûr, nous y sommes allés et bien sûr, j’ai acheté un couple de belles balles de laine hehehehe!
In the dozen or so that I bought, there was one kind that was new : Yarn Bee Caterina. When returning back home, I tried it and fell in love … so soft, so easy to work with ! As you can see, I bought only 4 … heummm …
Dans la douzaine que j’ai achetée, il y en avait une nouvelle sorte: Yarn Bee Caterina. En rentrant chez moi, je l’ai essayée et je suis tombé en amour … tellement douce, tellement facile à travailler! Comme vous pouvez le voir, j’en ai acheté que 4 … heummm.
Weeeeeell, I must have been bitten by something toxic because 2 weeks after, I went back to the USA a made a little shopping …
Mmmmbon, je dois avoir été mordue par quelque chose de toxique parce que 2 semaines plus tard, je suis retournée aux États-Unis pour y faire un peu de shopping …

All that to say that I had some fun ahead of me ! … and after playing a little with the yarn, I came to a shawl that I liked. The colors of red, green and all the autumnal colors that were in it there made me think of an Instagram friend named Alessia. I find her name so beautiful and original that in 2 seconds I had the name for the shawl: “Shawl for Alessia” !
Tout cela pour dire que j’avais du plaisir à venir ! … et en jouant un peu avec, j’en suis arrivée à un châle que j’aimais bien. Les couleurs de rouge, de vert et toutes les couleurs automnales qui s’y trouvaient m’ont fait penser à une amie Instagram qui se nomme Alessia. Je trouve son nom tellement beau et original qu’en 2 secondes j’avais le nom pour le châle : «Shawl for Alessia» (châle pour Alessia) !
Since my previous career was in Informational Technology (IT) and that I used to write programs, it came naturally to write down the pattern so 1. I could remember it (my poor memory here) and 2. To share it with the community of wonderful yarn players (with crochets !). Thanks to an amazing group of testers, the pattern was checked out rapidly and the pattern available !
Étant donné que ma carrière d’avant était dans les Technologies de l’Information (TI) et que j’écrivais jadis des programmes informatiques, il m’est venue naturellement d’écrire le patron de façon à ce que 1. je puisse m’en souvenir (ma mauvaise mémoire ici) et 2. de le partager avec la communauté de ceux qui s’amusent avec du fil (et avec un crochet!). Grâce à un groupe de testeurs extraordinaires, le patron a été testé rapidement et il est maintenant disponible!
